I think you're refering to melamine...particle board coated with white plastic...kind of like Ikea furniture?
Alot of people use it actually. Most seem to like it alot.
Run a search for melamine in this forum and the "enclosure/reptile room showcase" forum and you should find lots of info on it.

If you mean melamine, then yes it is a commonly used material. IMHO the stuff is crap though. Doesn't hold up long term, is not waterproof (just water-resistant), bubbles over nothing, chips easily, is very heavy, and I could go on and on about the stuff. I have a few things made out of it and can't stand it. Yuck! Crap! Blech!
no actually i mean plastic-coated plywood i plywood with a white plastic coat it is used in pig barns alot cause it is smooth and very easy to cleanthis is fairly water resistant and doesnt chip or bubble very easily but it is very heavy
Laminated plywood? Used for counter tops in some resturaunts. Comes in any colour you can think of, built my cage out of it, very satisfied.
