Giant Cricket thingy
k, wtf..my sister just screamed and called me into the room saying there was this giant cricket thing..it looks like a cricket but it is jet black and glossy and is at least 1.5 inches long..i tried to catch it but it crawled under the bed ( the bed is close to the ground, only a small gap at the bottom).
the thing i dont get is that we are 10 stories up in my dads condo, how the hell did it get here.
anyone know what it is? never seen anything like it..looks like a cricket on 'roids :S

Do you feed superworms? Could be a superworm beetle.

Sounds like a cockroach. Or a grasshopper?

i dont have any feeders here..im at my dads...its not a cockroach, dont think its a grasshopper...It looks just like a cricket but bigger and blacker. Has the tail thingies like a cricket and it has wings and they werent noticable until it was killed (u couldnt see them when it was crawling around) It didnt use the wings when it tried to hop away from me. It crawled up my sis's leg shortly after the first post and then she ran it over with the wheel on the chair by accident. Its in five pieces including hind legs and its still moving now, almost noon. I took pics of it, but only when it was already in peices. Ill put them up later
its prolly just a cricket lol, but ive never seen one like it b4.

Uhm, yeah.... some wild crickets are big, black and fast. That's probably what it was... don't know why you'd suspect it was anything else... LOL =)

all the cricks ive seen are brownish grey, and they have some variable colours. Im not at my dads anymore so i cant put up the pics, they wont really help u to identify it cause its in pieces but they will show the size.. the butt part along is bigger than the penny in the picture
