Question Inbreeding?

I have a question that just came to me looking at Henry Piorun's site.

When breeding snakes. Say you only have one Male and one Female. You breed them and produce a clutch. Obviously all these snakes are related and hence inbreeding would occur if you bred these clutch mates.

Now, is it still considered inbreeding if you produce two clutches from these parents and take a female from clutch one and a male from clutch two and end up breeding those?

I would this so because they still have the same parents, but I wasn't sure.

It's all inbreeding. It wouldn't matter if you bred sister from the same clutch to a brother. Almost all snakes out there today are heavily inbred with some exceptions.

But I believe yes, it would be the same thing.

If he says different clutches he means seperate parents

If they are different clutches from different years they can still be related. best way to avoid inbreeding is to get your second from a different breeder. Inbreeding not an issue? look at one eyed albino boas.

Thats true lisa but Henry often has a few pairs of each species he sells so i am quite sure if he was going to sell you a pair they wouldnt be related even if you bought one 1 year and the other the next
