Help

Hi everyone,I've been here many times but this is my first post.
I have a emperor scorpion that started to give birth yesterday.(I thought she was fat because she loves to eat.lol)Anyway I noticed she had about twelve so far and has eaten about four. What should I do?I read today that the male should be taken out before birthing begins.Should I do this now or is it to late.I've searched the net for info but there isn't much on babies.Any info would help. Thanks Paulo

wow sorry to here shes eatting the babies.. are you sure thats what shes doing?? as they do hold them under the body in what i call the craddle which is her legs till they are ready to climb on deck which is her back.. And yes you should have the male out of there, to be on the safe side.. If shes done given birth today than make sure the male is not in with her keep her in a nice warm dark area and try not to disturb her and also give her a crix with the legs pulled off so she has somthing to eat.. Make sure her cage is moist and humid and that her water dish is not deep enough for the babies to drown if they should happen to fall off moms back.. By any chance do you have a hide for her or does she have a burrow?? This is the best i can think of as mine just had babies also and its my first scorpion birth in all the yrs i have kept scorps.... Welcome aboard hope you enjoy it here!!!!

Thanks for all the info Blackwidow69.She has finished giving birth and I count ten on her back.I have removed the male and she has backed into one of her caves.I read in about 1-2 weeks the babies will climb off and that's when I should remove them.I guess all I can do now is wait. Thanks again and good luck with your's

The trick is to keep the mother stress-free and well fed. I used to lay a pre-killed pinky mouse across her claws once or twice a week and that would keep her satisfied and not looking at her babies as a food source.

The babies should start to climb down after 2 to 3 weeks... they will still hang out on and around the mother until they are around a month to a month and a half old.

What I did afterwards was I gave a pinky mouse to the mother and another pinky for all the babies to share (its quite something to see 20 baby scorps crawling all over a mouse and devouring it) This kept mother and babies happy and fat and I did not have one single case of canibalism.

Good luck!!
