anything goes thread???

Hello,
This forum states that anything goes so I want to post a quick little message that I hope some of you will forward along. I understand that not everyone may agree with this, but I do and the thread did say that anything goes!

"Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can coming out with pictures of the Empire State Bldg. and the Pledge of Allegiance on them.
But, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge, "Under God." Pepsi said they did not want to offend
anyone.
If this is true then we do not want to offend anyone at the Pepsi
corporate office. If we do not buy any Pepsi product then they will not receive any of our money. Our money after all does have the words "Under God" on it.
Please pass this word to everyone you know--let your voices be
heard. We want the words "Under God" to be read by every person who buys a can. "

HOW FAST CAN YOU FORWARD THIS ONE?

I hope that this doesn't offend anyone but as an american, I was brought up reciting the pledge in school. They never ommitted the words"under god" before, why should anyone start now!

I find it really stupid that the Pepsi company is so paranoid about upsetting someone that they aren't printing those words on the new patriotic can. How far is this politically correct crap going to go?

Now as a Canadian, honestly I don't care too much about such a thing !!!

What is really funny is that Pepsi thinks someone will be bored enough to actually read the can.

But that's fine if they do make the can like that. I never have been a Pepsi fan and Jeff Gordon pretty much sucks anyway.

I'm not american, but I don't have a problem with them including it or not. I do see how some people would not like it either way though...

hmmm, to avoid being flamed or starting a little war I've edited my own post

Hello,
It seems that someone will do anything to make a quick buck. We expect it down here. Following Sept.11th, t-shirts,hats,bumper stickers, etc. hit the store shelves like there was no tomorrow. Its a target audience. I guess it is to be expected in the states. My peeve is that they need to leave well enough alone. This country had sayings and beliefs long before all the foreigners came over. No one invited them here. If they get offended by our beliefs, then they don't have to condone them. But to say that it offends them is ridiculous. They had the right to come over and they have the right to leave. If any of this bs was happening in Canada I bet you would have something to say. It isn't being anal. It's more about keeping america, america. If I wanted to live in the middle east, I would move there!

When it comes down to it, it's all about the bottom line anyway. Money makes the world go round, and that will never change. Sucks eh?

I wonder if they are going to start an Canadian version and put a beaver on the can?
Omen you're right Gorden does suck.
And this is a topic that deals with politics so I doubt it will stay up long.
Also by not buing Pepsi the only people who will realy be hurt are the front line grunts working in the botteling plants for minimum wage. They'll be the first affected if pepsi loses money, not the big wigs.

You want my opinon, well I think the words had better stay there and always be there. So by not trying to offend the minority, the atheist they are offending the majority Christians. Something is totally screwed up with that. I'd quit drinking Pepsi for this reason. It's a shame to b/c that Live Wire is good.........Scott

"under god" was not in the original pledge. It was added in the 50s or 60s (my memory is a little fuzzy on an exact date, I took american history over a decade ago). And it's more then just the athiests and christians, the usa is a melting pot of many religions, so just who's god are you under?

Only 4% of the world is christian, think about that. I know because I have a minor in religouse studies from St. Thomas U. I'm not pulling that number out of my a@#. Only 4% yet look at the calander the whole world has to use it's based on JC's b-day. Must be nice for Jews to have to put up with.

Hello,
Good point about the calendar! That was pretty good. the word god doesn't depict any single being, at least not in my eyes. I am not catholic, protestant, christian, or any other religion. My god is whatever I decide it is. I just know that there is a power out there stronger than me. It doesn't have to be reference to the bible.
When i said that it needs to stay as the original, I am referring to the one I know and grew up with. I am 26 years old so "under god" is the version that my generation grew up with. Why is it that when one person decides something is against their beliefs that it should change. Even if that something was around before they showed up? doesn't seem just in my eyes.
