New Columbian boa

Just got him a few hours ago. He seems to chill on top of the branches instead of hides, do they usually do this? I love his colour and hes a real nice boa, so calm, unlike most snakes ive had.

I was just wondering, are they picky feeders? imma try to feed him a fuzzy tonight.

From what I've read, bc will readily feed on whatever f/t you toss them. My bc proved that the day after I got him/her.

My bc is usually found on top the hides rather than in them. And sometimes in them. Most people keep their bc's in blanket boxes, which is totally fine, but I'm working on getting an enclosure to where I can observe their arboreal capability.

the first pic there i tried feeding him. And i knew he wouldn't take it but i thought i'd give it a shot.

he spends alot of time in the branches, sometimes he hides between the water dish

heres me with a 4 foot Columbian Boa. Sorry for the crappy pics.

Gorgeous Boa, but.... A fuzzy??? Even a neonate boa should be feeding on hoppers or maybe even small adult mice. Fuzzies are for Colubruids and Erycines.

Invictus is right. Your BC looks like it could stomp a few fuzzies at that. How about trying to start the snake off with rat pups or adult mice around 20 grams?

boas are great feeders at that size you should feed him f/t ratpups then soon onto rat hoppers every week make sure the temps are proper.

everything is the way it should be. theres only one problem, he isn't using his hide, instead he just sleeps on the trees. funny how he coils like a tree python, anyway, is it normal?

Uncommon, but nothing to be alarmed about. My BCI burrows like a Kenyan sometimes... again, nothing to be worried about.

he isnt eating, maybe my tank is too large for him, i have a 40 Gall. Its my only tank, i think i need to putchase a smaller one.

what size tank would be good for a 4 footer?? i would think 40G wouldn't be too big.

Yeah, and don't keep him in a tank. They are way too drafty and don't hold humidity at all. Go for a rubbermaid, the equivalent of 15-20 gallons for now, at least till he settles in.

Also, who did you get that boa from ? He is very pretty!!

By the looks of it, does he look kinda skinny? Are Boas usually this calm? I'm starting to get worried cuz he refused a meal. and he isn't all to active, he just sits in the branches. But i've moved him into a rubbermaid cover the sides so its dark, hopefully he'll eat.
