Species??

I was told these are asian house gecko?? Anyone here know for sure? I'm going to look on the net as well but this place is always my first stop in any research I do for lizards, best resource on the net IMHO. Oh ya they do have sticky pads to climb walls.

They look like regular house geckos, AKA banana geckos

Look like Hemidactylus Frenatus, house geckos, or, I don't know if its just me, they look a LOT like mourning geckos (lepidodactylus lugubris)... LL WOULD work if they are being called an asian house gecko... How big are they?

They are about 3 or 4 inches long head to tail.

well... That is about the size of a mourning gecko, or an large juvie house gecko... When they sleep, to they curl their tails up? If they do, or kind of half-curl them up, they are probably mournings... Visit http://home.t-online.de/home/0648491...otos28_en.html
for a couple pictures (colours vary, as you can see). That is a great site, by the way. If thats the kind of wavey pattern it has, my moneys on a mourning gecko.

The darler one kinda looks like a mourning geckos but the lighter one doesn't. Maybe they got shipped 2 different species under the same name?? Who knows.

When you feed them, do they go and hunt down the bugs, and "Stalk" them before eating, or do they wait for them to get close, then pounce? The first trait was a Hemidactylus trait (and most other sp.), but the second is MUCH more of a mourning gecko trait... Mourning geckos are not as voracious hunters, so, in the wild, hemidactylus frenatus (which occupies roughly the same areas) get more bugs, because of their technique, and then in turn they are bigger, and attack or outeat the mournings, so, the mournings population is decline, and vica versa for house geckos. ALSO, what are the sexes? If they are both female, but start you can see the eggs in the belly even if they don't mate, (look on their underside), they are either LL or Hemidactylus Garnottii (two parthenogenic species, both very similar...) When/if they lay eggs, try keeping them around 70-76F, if they hatch at that temp, they are definitely mournings (very cold tolerant).

Well there are two kind of banana geckos: banana geckos and giant banana geckos. The huge ones that you are talking about are most likely giant banana geckos

Your geckos look like normal house geckos to me but they also look a bit like some sort day gecko. That's just my opinion even though it's not very helpful

Hemidactylus frenautus... (I think that's how you spell it). I used to own a couple of these in P.R. very cute geckos... I like the fringes they have on their legs and tails!

I figured out that they were 2 different species based on color and their tails. But I guess it does not matter now because one of them died. I'm very pived at the petstore. My sis is taking it down to get me a new one. I'm really mad. Anyway, I believe the lighter one is a mourning gecko based on the tail, but the color is solid not wavy?? Who knows. I never saw them eat, I put a few crickets in there but they were still there this morning. So I took them out, went to work came home for my break and found the darker one dead.
