GTP enclosure

geez, this forum is dead....not too many GTP keepers on here???

anyways, i have a question for those you who that have had adults for a while

I just got a pair of adults and they are in quarentine now....this gives me a couple months to build thier new full time enclosures.

so i need suggestions on size:

I know that 24x24x24 is generally accepted.
Now, i was planning on building them 32 long x24x24...
Im wondering if these snakes will actually use more length in their setup....from what Ive seen they are pretty sedentary and I am curious as to if they will use more length in the enclosures

any thoughts????

This forum isn't dead, just a bit slow at times! I am sure that you're going to get a few views on this topic. But my take on it is that they don't really need that much horizontal room for an individual animal. As long as you can provide a decent thermal gradient, that's all that matters. I have my adults and subadults in 2'x2'x2' cubes, and find that even with the thermal gradient, most of my animals sit in the exact spots, so in my eyes, a larger enclusure would just be a waste of space. But when you breed though, a larger sized enclosure might be beneficial. Hope this helps.

Sony, this is the only pic I have of the female so far, im letting her get nie and settled in before going cam crazy!
Shes a biak locale….cb’99 from VPI

As for GTP breeders in Canada, there are a few, but not nearly as many as the US, and as far as I know not too many people are doing it in quantity as a sole project…I could be wrong. A lot of people have them, but the people actually concentrating on breeding them are few and far btw
let me know whatcha think of her

Matt, thats a beatiful animal. Biak's are my fave locale chondros. They throw alot of unpredictability when outcrossed to other locales and designers. I have 2 from Rico Walder, and I cant wait to breed them! Looks like shes about ready to breed, got a pic of the male?

Sony, took these pics for ya!

this is the male, he is very nippy and she is pretty much the same, typical for biaks, i guess you just lucked out with yours.

i was on your site and that "Juelz" condro is fantastic man, great looking snake!

i dont know forsure, but i dont think they are siblings....
I am the second owner, they came from VPI, and the previous owner has the lineage paperwork, Im getting my hands on that soon

they are breeding size, but female needs some weight, so im feeding every 7 days until brumation in the winter, then she should be a good size for breeding

post some new pic of Juelz when you get them

any breeding for you this year....or is next season the big year?

VPI has produced some really nice stuff. can't go wrong with them. im trying to get some weight onto one of my females also. shes almost there, just a bit more i think. this fall/winter will be my first breedings actually. i think me and a good friend are going to pair up 3-4 sets of animals, and some of the pairings are going to be really really exciting.....great looking animals with great genetics...i think "juelz" is going to be paired up with 2 females.

what else do you keep?

keeping gtp's

well to get in on all this i am canadian and primarily keep gtp's.i am a breeder and long time keeper. matt are those the 1's from vince??? nice baik types and if they are vince then they are from vpi. as for an enclosure my adult breeders are in 15 gallon upright acqariums, you can be as generous as you want but i prefer what they will really use and they really don't require all that much space. sony you still have the rob worell babies?? great line,i have a male from jade and what babies!!!! matt i think you have my e-mail and phone #,call me or e-mail me if you wish.
