Post Not another beardie thread!

My cousin has a beardie who is named Chester. He is about 5 months old o>. But all he gets fed are crickets, crickets and more crickets. I know nothing about them but is this O.K.?

NO beardies need a varied diet. I would suggest dark greens like kale, mustard, turnip, dandalions, i also use bearded dragon pelets, they can have the occasional treat of pinkie mice and fruits(mango, kiwi, grapes, I would try to stay away from citric acid things like oranges and grapefruit). also i feed mine greenbeans, peas, carrots. I also feed the occasional butterworms, and waxworms. Also you need to make sure he has a uvb light of at least 5.0 and he gives them supplements of calcium and vitamins. I know i'm leaving some food items out but there are so many to feed, i'm sure other people will fill in the blanks.

Winter squashes such as acorn, butternut and kabocha are also excellent staples. Other greens that are nice to use are watercress, chickory, endive, escarole, and collards. My guys adore snow peas and okra!

Hey, what a coincidence! I have a beardie named Chester also! He's 7 1/2 months though, hehe.
Well, food has already been discussed so no need for my input as I'd say the same thing. Lol.
P.S.- My Chester LOVES collard greens, mustard greens, bok choi, and red leaf lettuce. However, he has a hard time eating peaches, I guess they are just too slippery, lol.

anytime. You should have her buy a basic bearded dragon book that will give her more info into what they eat and some of the other requirements they need. that would be a good start.

Hahahahaha Thomas. Good prediction, if she's not devoted to taking care of them enough to read a book... well... that's sad.

yes i completly agree with dragon slave. If it was my cousin i would tell her to just give me the B.D. until she was ready to care for it properly. And if she learned then i would give it back.

but that's me.

If you wanna be nice about it try to sit down with her and try to explain as much as you can about how the proper care is. If she don't want to take the time to learn then tell her you will take proper care of it if she gives it too you.
