Angry handling problem

this is the 2nd time i've handled my baby python in this week. He ate 2 days ago and i dont think hes stressed out really. when i pick him up (at night) he just curls up into a ball. Argh. why doesn't he move around and stuff like he does in his cage?! How do i "tame" him so that he wont be afraid of me?? i try to keep handling as low as possible due to stress.

I would suggest leaving him alone for 2 weeks... Feed him then wait 7 days, feed him again wait 3 days and then start handling him... Young BPs are insecure and handling them will just make it worse..

awh that sucks, its really dissapointing to see my ball all scared like that. Hopefully with more patients he'll be ok.

I agree it's best not to handle them too much. I just got a baby boa and it's SO hard to just let him be.

Of course, being a ball python, you really can expect that curling up in a ball behaviour quite often depending on the animal's temperment.

Glad to see he ate for you.

I agree with BJ, you will see that behaviour alot when they are young... When you take him out, and he balls up, just leave him balled up in your hands and dont move or touch him and he should unball and begin moving for you...
