First Date

Ok my baby kahn has just found a girlfriend.

so we need some advice, when introducing them both, kahn is a year old and the new female is 2 years old.

so whats the best way to introduce them, just chuck them in the same tank? split the tank in half and let them get to know eachother through the glass? etc

all advice would be appeariated thanks!

Well, before you can even think about introducing them, you will need to quarantine the new girl for a 6 month period to be sure that she is healthy. Also, you don't want their to be too much of a size difference between the two, if there is, injuries or bullying may be more likely to occur.

Once all of that is cleared up, just put them both in the tank. Be sure that when you put one in you don't put it in to close over the other so it is vunerable to a defense/feeding response bite, and make sure there is absolutely no rodent scent on either animal or anywhere in the tank.

Yeah quarantine her for sure...
If you want to breed with them, the best thing to do is to keep them seperated and to put them together only when its breeding time

I correct you - they do

They don't really go into a "sleep" like turtles do, but they are having a rest though from november - january if you lower the daily light to 6 hours and drop the tempature to 20 degrees celcius...dont feed during this time.
in january start to raise the daily hours of light and the degrees and when its back to normal start feeding again.

You CAN skip this - i do this as well - but for the best breeding process its the best to do.

mostly can is a light issue (if you cycle temps) but humidiy works as a stimulant in my circumstances(desert living), more lower pressure than actual circumstances stimulates here

6 hours of day light is not natural for any boa One should cycle according to the natural range of the boa in question(day light dark cycle temps also from daytime highs to night time lows) I also agree with rev humidity has been shown to be a factor in breeding in quite a few of the True red tails.Lack of proper photo period and too great a reduction in temps is begging for trouble In my opinnion(hey Chris M or Chris R feel free to jump in here any time I am interested in what you Gentlemen have to say on the subject) Don't worry guys I use the term Gentlemen quite loosely when refering to you two lol

well as for the cycling light thing..khans lights go on at 7am and off at 7pm and he is quite used to this. i was advised a few months ago to stop this an turn the on according to how i get up and go to bed. i did and he refused to eat and went on a 6week fast. his sheding routine went out the window so i returned it to what i was doing and within 3days he took a large rat from me
