Those awful banded crickets!

I hate banded crickets (Gryllodes signillatus). I had almost run out of crix (near 1500) and i had to buy more. The petstore had only 10 packs of banded crix. Well i never had worked with them before. I took all of them. Now 1 month later i see that i have much more deaths than normal house crickets (Acheta domesticus). Further more these banded crix do not move around and when i go to catch them they jump faster than house crickets. I hate them. I miss my good old house crickets.

I think you mean 'Gryllodes sigillatus', I have never seen any tropical house crickets (Gryllodes sigillatus) for sale in Canada or the US. I have seen them wild in Florida and Texas. I tried to breed them with limited success. They can jump great distances. I think they originated in southwestern Asia.

Yes, they don't move much around but they jump very high and they are almost uncatchable because they have larger antennaes and they conceive earlier than normal house crix the hand that goes to catch them. Yesterday i open their container and i found around 15 dead banded crix!...Tragic! Maybe they have that virus that killed most house crix (Acheta comesticus) last year. I don't remember where i have read about that virus but it was a disaster for the cricket breeders.
