Cool Bill Haast Story

I was talking to my dad yesterday and he was telling me that when he was about my age, his best friend married the daughter of the owner of the labs that Bill worked for or sold his venom to, or something like that. Anyways, after the wedding they went to one of Bills shows and after it was over they were talking to him and he offered them a more private show and he took them back to the labs and let them watch him milk some cobras and gave them their own little tour of the place.

I thought that was neato.

I have been lucky to have met him as a kid, then again later in life. It's cool that he's still here in FL. Every year our herp club, Suncoast Herpetological Society, tries to go to his place for a day to see his operation. They (SHS) always have someone toting a video and we all get copies. His stories are priceless. This year's trip was postponed due to his recent and very unfortunate envenomation by a viper of sorts. Everyone who has met him will no doubt remember him.

Its amazing that he is still alive. He's gotta be in his 80's and having been bitten 180+ times, he should, by normal standards, have passed on by now.

Truly amazing.
