Just thought I'd share my favorite spiders that I own. I would also like to see some pics of your fav pet spiders.

My Usambar baboon @ 3-4 months old.

My biggest solid Black black widow. Very different having NO red.

heres my little girl again. showing size comparison, she's a little under 1" long!!!(i think thats big)

man I was thinking of getting an Usambar! Unfortunatly my camera sucks but refer to Salem Orna-mental if you want to see the only spider I have (at the moment). I wish I caught that wolf spider I saw at my friends house. I saw it out of the corner of my eye running across the floor. I thought one of his T's escaped. But it turned out to be the biggest wolf I have ever seen. Unfornatly my friend fed it to the T. Droped it in the tank and realized it was bigger then the T. So it got set free in the yard! I would have bet on the wolf!

lol, you should get an usambar. They are really cool, and really colourfull (but way to fast!). i will try and get a good pic of the web that thing made. Its a tunnel between a potho leaf and the cage, and it goes all the way under about 1/5 of the ground. were those wolf's the ones that have medium body and really large legs, around 2-3" legspan?

Yah a smaller body and a huge leg span. But this one must have got some radiation somewhere because it was in no way a normal size. 3"minimum. I have never seen one even close to that size. I think I will take your advice it was the Usambar or a fringed ornamental. Maybe I'll get both. I am converting my storage into an aracnid room. Honestly I never thought I'd like them this much but my scorpion collection just doubled to 23. 15 flat rock babies 1 cm and growing. I want to get some more too.

Nice pics, now aint that wierd how widows very in color.. Out here we have them with red on there back as well us under the belly.. When i catch some huge females il get pics of them to post and you can see the color variations...The biggest one by far was last year my gilrfriend had a huge female in her house that was more than a inch big.. Well see what we can find this year.....

Its wierd i have not found too many ones with red, but the ones that have come in on my crix have had tons of red.
Tim/julie: What types of scorps you have? I am interested in some of those babies if/when you want to sell them.
Ohh yeah, i would love to see some of your widow pics blackwidow69.

Hey Kyle. I have a blk desert hairy, tri color burrowing, blk tailess (I know it's not realy a scorpion) whip, an unidentified and two I'm babysitting. A huge flat rock and another tri. I will check to see if I have any babies that aren't sold. I just sold a desert hairy and an unidentified. I wanted to post a pic to get every ones opinion on the unidentified but the camera sucks! I try again once I have time.

I'll see if I can find a local blk widow to compare!
If you see our post in the invert section it will be from me (Tim) 100% of the time. Unfortunatly Julie dosen't share my interest in inverts!

hey Kyle I have decided to sell some more. They are only an cm still they are less then 3 months old. If this doesn't bug you or you would rather wait let me know.

Hi, uh, I dont know much about spiders, but is that a black widow you have in your hand? Isnt that dangerous? I'll pick up any snake almost, but spiders I dont know. Ya cant control where their mouths go...

Yes it is a black widow in my hand. if you dont poke it or pinch it or do anyting stupid its not going to bite. Even if it did "want" to bite (which NEVER happens unless shes gaurding her egg sac) it would be so hard for it to actually follow through. IF it managed to catch your skin, theres not a very good chance of it actually invenimating you. I personally think its is one of the safer spiders to keep because of its non aggresive nature.
Also i should add that when they get pissed, instead of bitting they USUALLY use their back 2 legs and try and put web all over you (just like how they catch their prey), then sometimes they turn around and tag you. This happened to me once (luckily it hit my finger nail), and it was extremely hard to pull my finger apart. The web was that strong.
With that being said you wouldnt see me near a female gaurding her egg sack, now they get PISSED! Hope this helped clarrify things for you.

Hey Kyle, where did you get that Widow from? If you found it outside then it's probably a northern one. Only the Southern Black Widows have the red on their bellies and have produced fatalities. Not sure if the northern are equally capable of killing someone.

Hey Vanan. they are Western widows "L. (hesperus?)", which I am told will basically cause all your muscles to become super tense (you would not be able to move) and extremely painfull for a couple days. very rarely fatal though. this was found near Gordon Head area. She laid her egg sac yesterday, but a stupid cricket ripped it open, so i dont think i will get any babies from it

The solid black seems to be fairly rare here and most people, that I have spoken with, find the ones with red on their belly. But yes I am in total agreement that their venom is extremely potent. So I guess you just have to use your judgment when handeling them, and if your not comfortable with them you probably shouldn't touch them.
