We got a boy!!!

I heard one of our two red-eyes call for the first time last night. It was MUCH louder than i had expected. They make a lot of noise for such a little animal. I did not expect to hear from them until we were ready to breed them, had the rain chamber set up and they had been in it for a while.

So now the question is is our other one a female. "She" is quite a bit larger and has never made a sound, so we are suspecting that it is a female. Hopefully by this point next year we will have a few more and will have them producing. (Dream a little dream right)

Forgot to add . . . we should be taking some pictures of them this weekend and should having them uploaded shortly afterwards. I know I said that I would post them some time ago but it kept slipping my mind to get the digital camera.

Good luck on breeding them! Isn't it great to hear tree frogs croaking in the evening. Makes me feel like I'm outdoors in a far far away place.

I can never get any of my red-eyes or even any of my male frogs to shut up! Unfortunatly, I can't get them to breed with the females either.

Emily, have you cycled them? I mean giving them a true winter brumation period and then a real rainy season (rain chamber)? I think that's vital to frog breeding, I've also heard playing tapes of recorded thunder storms gets 'em in the mood for amplexus
