What is the law concerning taking your snake out in a public place, like a park? What is the biggest snake that can be out in public etc? Thanks

Again it depends on you location.....where I live there is no law that I know of, we just had the anual snakes parade here in KC and I took a 9 foot albino burm with me. I take many of my snakes out to the park and around with me, people seem to enjoy it and I have never had a issue@!

But check with you local herp society and they will be able to tell you!

The laws depend on where you live... some places don't allow boas or pythons, some don't allow snakes over 10 ft etc. I suggest you keep your snake in your home, or in your back yard. If you take it around with you everywhere and scare people, it may cause a ruckuss, public disturbances and such.

Like Xetox said "it all depends on your location". Here where I live it is not ok to walk down the street with you snake but in the connecting city it is. that is what does not make sence.

Please, please don't. It is not necessary and will just scare people, thereby causing laws put in place.

Is there a reason you would like to take them to a park? I think that frequently transporting your snake around is stressful to them, plus it may make non-herpers uncomfortable. I would advise letting it roam supervised in your own backyard if possible.

I was mainly asking just for information. I live in an apartment building in T.O. ,so no back yard.

I wouldn't recommend bringing your snakes out in public. Not only is it highly stressful for them, it can also be frightening to the public. As tHEgINO mentioned, this is the type of action that sets bylaws into motion...

I agree with Linds 100% we need to respect others wish not to be exposed to reptiles, in return we have the right to keep them

Most people possess a natural fear of most reptiles until they are exposed to them for what they really are.
Parading through a park does not attract the proper attention, and as stated above it usually scares people as the animal becomes stressed and performs many negative actions in fear of its life. This just causes the entire chain of fear to continue.. The more irresponsible reptile owners exhist, the more fear will be present. Reptiles aren't for everyone, don't force them to be.

(this is the type of action that sets bylaws into motion) Yup i agree with that, here we dont get to much of people freaking out about it and if we want to take them out we just go out to the woods some place where there is no people or we take them out on our own property.. Maybe you can find someplace to take your snake out where there is'nt alot of people or around people you know and trust that wont freak out...

I don't take any of my snakes out just because some people are afraid of snakes in general. It is not allowed in the area I live and besides snakes have a bad rep almost everywhere so why make it any worse...justified or not...
