Lenses for Pentax PZ-20

...Hello, I have a Pantax PZ-20 and I'm some what camra illiterate at the moment
but I like taking pictures either way.
My favorite types of pictures are micro ( I believe that's what it's called ) And I want to get into doing these kind of pics.
Now my question is what type of lenses do you guys suggest I use as well as filters? Does the lenses I use have to be a Pentax brand?
Also, any tips such as when to use the flash ect.?
Thanks,
Xain

Sorry KrokadilyanGuy3, I'm camera illiterate, too. lol. So I can't help you with filters or lenses. But I can give my opinion on when to use the flash.

Based on my own experiece, I use flash (obviously) when there is low light. But with certain cameras, I can't zoom enough and I have to actually get up close. In that case, I don't use flash because it tends to wash out the colours. I try and take my pictures when there is as much natural light as possible, so I don't have to use flash. I'm paranoid about freaking out my pets with the sudden flash of blinding light, so I like to avoid flash altogether if possible. lol.

I don't know if that was ANY help to you. haha. But good luck with the photography.

:thumbsup:

hey krok!

I've got a Pentaz PZ-1p. To take some good pics of reptiles, as well as do close up work you want to get a 50mm f1.4 or f2.0

Ok since you said you are camera illeterate, the f# is known as an f-stop, consider it to be the speed of the lens. The lower the number the faster the lens. a f1.4 is twice as "fast" as a 2.0.
the f-stop scale is as such

1.4, 2.0, 2.8, 4.0, 5.6, 8, 11, 16, 22
Faster<----------------------->Slower
More light<--------------->Less Light

You typically want one very "fast lense" usually your 50mm (a 50 mm is the most important focal length because it sees the same feild as the human eye) and you also want to invest in a set of Bellows. The Bellows allow you to use any lens to get up close and person. your other option would also be to get a 50mm f1.4 or f2.0 macro lens. But if you want to really be creative with any lens get the bellows. Any questions just lemme know, either here, or PM.

Good luck!

I've been into Photography since 96. I've taken sereral classes, and read up ALOT. I'm always learning as much as I can. I ALMOST took a job as a phot0grapher, only thing that stopped me is I didn;t have enough money to go out and buy all the extra gear I needed for work. I do plan on using my camera to make money soon.

One thing I'll share will all of you was the first thing I learned in my class. And it has since improved every picture I have taken.
This is a series of Questions to ask yourself, just do not press the shutter release until you have answered them all.

1) what EXACTLY am I taking a picture of?
2) What can I do to draw emphisis to my subject?
3) is there anything that doesn;t need to be here?

Try those about before you push the shutter! It'll help

Jay

... Might I add that when I look at pictures of say animal head shots I like the ones who dont make the eyes the center focal point. Justa personal liking..
By the way Jay, do you have any of your favorite pictures you've done online? I'd love to see some of your work if ya do.
