Talking Edmonton Show??

Who all here is going?? I can't wait. It'll be my very first reptile show!! April is too far away! Oh also what are the shows like?? Are they usually packed or is it kinda like shopping in a mall only in a building with lots of tables??

I second what Jeromerules said.
If you want to see animals for sale, go to the Calgary show.
Often, the animals at the Edmonton show are leftovers from the Calgary show (those that ARE actually for sale) and there is a lot more at the Calgary show anyway. If you're making the trip all the way down here, go to the Calgary one.

Ya but the Edmonton show is before the calgary one so it won't be left overs. I also can't make the Calgary one because I can't get the time and also I have no where to stay. I'm staying with family in Edmonton.

The Edmonton show is smaller than Calgary's TARAS show, with a focus on herp display and public education, promotion of the hobby, although there have been more vendors in the last couple years. There are about 35 tables, much of the good stuff for sale goes early on the first day and there can be good deals to be had. There are certainly great people to chat with and make connections.

I don't know any of the vendor list for this spring show, but you might want to let people on this forum know what you are looking for, and if someone from elsewhere in Alberta has what you want, you might be able to make arrangements to have it transported to you if someone is coming up to Edmonton for the show.

The Edmonton venue is not a huge building, it is pretty packed with people most of the time both days. Getting there first thing Saturday is a good idea - later in the day there are lots of kids and it can be hard to get around. The herp selection for the spring show may be limited because there won't be many babies from breeders yet, but if you are in the market for some gorgeous Dumerl's boas, Neil, a local breeder may still have some left - they are just beautiful. Will likely be leopard geckos, bearded dragons, corns, milks and kings, possibly carpet pythons if I break down and decide to sell my jungles.

Hope you will enjoy it, even though it is a small show, it will get you hooked and you will make it to the next TARAS or Red Deer one.

Well said Mary,

The Edmonton show is great. You will be able to see and learn a lot. The Calgary show is more of a sale but it brings in some good breeders from all over...like Corey Woods and Henry Piorun. Either way you will be glad that you came down to see the show.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks Mike. Will there be more shows in August or September that you know of?

I don't know when but both ERAS & TARAS should be having fall shows. Reddeer is the only one during the summer that I know of.

Cool. Sounds like Edmonton is a good starter show!! If I went to one that had everything for sale I'd come home with ALOT more then I should I'm actually more into the lizards right now so it'll be good.
