SPCA has a new web poll re: keeping exotics

So far the votes are dead even between people shoudl be allowed to keep them and people should not. I thought I would drum up a little support here. Go to http://www.spca.bc.ca/ to cast your vote. Lets show em what we think!

Excellent. The exotics shoudl be allowed with a test" is now leading the "exotics shoudl not be kept period" but 100 or so votes! Thanks to all who voted! Let others know about the link so they can vote too and pass it along! Maybe we can overwhelm them!

I just wanted to make a note on misrepresentation of this poll... I don't know if anybody else has noticed the picture of a primate right under the poll? It's behind a cage, you should see it.

By seeing this picture by the poll, people are going to think "Hmm... primates... people shouldn't be allowed to have animals like primates!" and their vote might be swayed to make another choice... I just thought this representation was a little off key... maybe I'm just tired and being too analytical lol which is probably it... but most people associate pictures with the text they're reading...

Sigh

I was about to say that they need to be more specific since it all depends on the exotic pet. I mean some people would think a parakeet is exotic then there are ferrets small and large snakes, monkeys, big cats terantulas.

There needs to be more options. All those options are too general and no matter what you choose its not going to be what you mean. If you say any can have any, then they could argue that people would buy irresponsibly (ie. iguanas, larger monitors etc..) and end up "dumping" the animals. I am also assuming that the test, and info would be if your getting it at the spca. I am curious what it would be for breeders, dealers, wholesalers, and pet shops. Im just not too sure what they are trying to get from this poll. Can anyone clarify what their plan is?
thanks

kyle
