Two heatmats?

So currently in my BRBs rub set up the hot spot doesn't seem to rise any higher that 26 if i keep the thermostat at 30C, if i set the thermostat to max (35C) it will get to 27C almost 28C at times, but i dont feel comfortable doing it like that since my BRB seemingly likes to burrow and i dont want any burns. I have a heat mat arriving today or tomorrow, so would it be okay to use another heat mat on the side? and would i need another thermostat for that or could i use the thermostat i have now just adjust the temps on it?

if i use a temp gun on the top, all i get are temps of 21C to 20C. I am really worried for my snakes health at the moment, the humidity is fine just not the heat.

Re: Two heatmats?

Your temps are fine. Between 20c to 29c is perfect for BRB's. Just don't go above 29c or 85f. Anything higher can be deadly to BRB's.
