How to remove Zilla light guard

Hey All,

I have garters so I like to give them some UVB since they bask a lot. I bought the Zilla slimline UVB light fixture, and it has a plastic guard on it.

I thought it would be easy to remove the plastic, but the two screws that keep it locked in place are only accessible via two very deep holes. My screwdriver is not long enough to reach the screws, which are located deep inside recessed holes.

However, there are screws flush with the top of the light fixture that look like they hold the entire light fixture together. Am I supposed to unscrew these to get at that plastic?

Or, does anyone have a better idea? I've searched online and people say you can remove it, but they don't say how.
