Unhappy New baby Colombian Rainbow! Halp!

So I just received a new baby Colombian Rainbow Boa from our local Repticon convention. Handling him at the show and first thing at home, he was great! No nipping, jumpyness or anything. Now it’s been a few hours and I put him in his setup, and he’s angryyyyyy.

The setup was for my ball python that I had for about 10 years. He was close to 25 years old and passed away a few months ago. Started acting funny and I took him to the vet and the vet could o my tell me that it was old age.

So, I put baby snake in the Balls old terrarium.

When I went to go check on the new baby, I startled him from his burrowing and he repeatedly struck at me. Yes, this is normal for baby, I know.
I’m wondering though if he’s stressed because he can smell the Ball from living in that set up? Or was the striking just because of startling?

Any input would be great guys!

He's stressed because he went from the breeder to the reptile show to your house. Let him be for a week or so until he settles in.

You have the correct answer above, but I would ask you; Did you thoroughly clean out the enclosure and disinfect it before placing your new snake in it?
