Texas Rat Snake

I got a wild adult Texas rat snake. She is mean as hell what is the best way to tame her iv been working with her everyday for the last three weeks and she still bites me every time.

Welcome to the world of wild caught (WC)!!! I get tagged by my WC Tiger Rat most times but he's coming around...very slowly.

First thing, don't handle her for a while.

Try using a snake hook to back her off, gentle taps to the head/nose, or just push her back. Keep this up for a while until she gets the idea you're not going to kill her.

Then try to touch, using the hook to keep her head away, and get her used to being touched. Then after a while, go back for the gentle grab. but don't pick her up. Eventually you will be able to.

Slow and easy is the best way. And good luck with feeding.
