Pics of Jerkface
He’s dull and his colors are muddy so I think he’s going into shed. He was a lot redder when I brought him home.

Re: Pics of Jerkface
Don't worry, they get more colorful with every shed until they reach adulthood. Very cool snakes, but I just wish that they were a bit more diurnal and displayed better in the daytime. Mine are all laid back and great eaters. Beautiful snakes!

Re: Pics of Jerkface
Thanks! Feeding issues aside, he's a pretty cool little dude. He's really gentle and chill when I handle him.

I think he's about 2 months old.
About his name...initially I named him Salazar (my BP is Nagini) but there were some early feeding difficulties in which he would ignore a live pinky for 29 hours (he actually ate that one) and a second in which he ignored it for over 48 hours. He never did eat the second and I had to euthanize the poor thing.
The 48 hours with the pinky just wrecked me and I had to find ways to laugh to keep from crying. During this process, I was doing cage maintenance and my husband overheard me call him a little jerk (for not killing the pinky promptly) and cracked up saying "Did you just call your snake a jerk?" "Jerkface" came out of that. It relieved the stress. His last two feedings have been f/t and he's eaten both within a few hours.
It's probably temporary. He's supposedly a male, but when he's a bit bigger I'll have him sexed properly and decide on a final name at that point.

Re: Pics of Jerkface
Ah, but he'll forever be Jerkface to us. He's a looker, even pre-shed. Very glad he's taken some f/t.

Great story thanks for sharing. Mine had problems eating at first as well so I understand the frustration I thought for sure she was going to die of starvation. It does get better I promise you. She's a great eater now, she is 6 months old.
She is super dull in these pictures she shed that night.
