Help please, Amazon tree boa heating

Hi guys, I'm coming again with a simmilar thread was unable to upload proper size pictures, my pics has very high resolution. I got an RT-2 thermostat just for a while, before I'll get something better. My question...thé terrarium Is 80x40x40 cm for a baby Snake, which keeper told me will be sufficient for a short while. On the left side Is a basking spot, EXO Terra daylight 50W and Its saying, that under thé spot, like 30cm should be 29 degrees, I set it the sensor like 10cm Upon thé ground on 24 degrees of Celsius. Thé keeper didnt gave me much informations, He said, his room temperature Is 24 and that Hes just having a 8W led bulb and thats all, yet moisting alot. My room Is 20,5 during winter months so in pet store they recommended me the basking daylight bulb Iv previously mentioned. Thé terrarium Is temporary, in 2 months I'll be getting something taller and more suitable, before buying thé Snake keeper told me that current one Is fair enough for such a little Snake. My thermostat Is bit ******, Its cheaper east european product just for a temporary solution. Iv ordered thermometer, but it'll be in around monday. My current issue Is just to solve what Is going on Now. Where exactly should I put thé only senzor thermostat has, cooler place and leave alone thé basking spot, just to set lets say 22 Celsius for right side of thé terrarium for Snake to cool Down to have it under control or under thé basking spot.. and where exactly to position thé sensor? I'm not sure, thé thermostat Is RT-2 And it has a cabel with a senzor on Its tip. I would be very glad if You could give me some direction how to temporarily set the stuff. Aswell would be glad to know how to upload pic from android phone in right resolution as Id like to show You my new girlfriend many thanx in advance, Id like to make her feel comfortable, this solution Is only for a while, but I want her to feel good, So please my main issue Is where exactly position thé senzor and what temperature to set on thermostat. Thanx alot for any kind of help

for nocturnal snakes it's better use heat pads
for day snakes it's better lamps

oh. Sorry. I didn't see you have green tree boa. So he seats on a branch all the time. So you have to use a lamp. And use thermostat. Just place a sensor on the range where snake will be lay and boa can't cover a sensor.

You can place sensor right under your lamp or a bit lower

Then place thermometer on a branch and wait until thermometer gain the temperature you need. Then look at your thermostat. As far as thermostats' sensor is fixed closer to lamp thermostat will have higher temperature. But if you fix this temperature you will have the temperature you need on a branch so your boa will have that temperature too.

Yes, thats why it was bit of an unexpacted for me (heat pad) hes on the branch all the time, but I precisle mentioned that I'm not yet fuly equipped and my Snake Is home, or let's say I have bought only really nessesary stuff which was recommended to me by a keeper, I'm just not sure where to position thé end of thé cabel on which very end Is thé temperature sensor, Its very Simple thermostat and not digital. What Iv mentioned Is, that the bulb I have ...well I put all that to thé post, cut it short. I'm not sure wether to put thé end of thé cabel under thé basking light...on the very bottom or in the middle of thé terrarium, top? And which temperature to set on it, meanwhile I have it on 24 C under thé basking spot like 5 cm from the ground. As my height od terrarium Is 40cm and the EXO Terra basking daylight 50 W makes 27C from the range of 40 cm and Its not on the very top, but thé thermostat works well, because the light Is on and off like every 3-4 minutes, so I guess Its measuring right, my only issue Is wether Its positioned well. Just forcase I have yet one LED 13 W bulb close to the basking spot, that one makes only very small heating, that one recommended me thé keeper, but like Iv mentioned his room temperature Is 4 degrees higher than mine, So EXO Terra was additionally recommended to me as a proper source of heating. I would post a pics, but unfortunatelly with mine resolution Its unable to upload. This solution Is only temporary. But even that I want Snake to feel as good as possible. The interiér Is nice, because it really immitates jungle environment, but heating Is my big issue. Thank You for help in advance

There is a white cable You may see with a green tip positioned almost on the bottom under the basking spot set on 24 C. Should I change the position and thé temperature setting? Thank You

Re: Help please, Amazon tree boa heating

Using a heat pad for an arboreal snake is just a waste of energy, for it to be any use you would have to literally cook the substrate to create enough heat to reach the snake up in the branches.

Place your Exo Terra lamp above your enclosure, not in the middle but to one side, so that about one halve of your enclosure gets light from it. You will most likely don’t need a thermostat for your lamp. If your enclosure is 80 x 40 cm (length x width) than place it about 20 cm from the right (or left) end of your enclosure, so it covers approximately 40 x 40 cm floor space. Put some branches in different heights below the lamp. This creates a vertical and horizontal thermal gradient in your enclosure, with a maximum temperature of probably 30° C (or even more) in the top branches right below the lamp, and dropping temperatures in lower areas and at the opposite end of the enclosure.

Take a reading of the temperature at the far side of the enclosure after several hours using the lamp, if the lowest temperature on ground level is more than 25° C move the lamp further to the opposite side (place it over one corner), if the temperature is much lower than 25° place the lamp a little more to the center of the enclosure. Don’t worry about the maximum temperature right below the lamp, your snake will use this spot if it wants to warm up and leave it to a cooler place as soon as it gets too warm for it.

Watch your night time temperature, if it drops too low you might need to add a small RHP or CHE (on a thermostat) to rise the temperature during night time.

Roman, thank You, it really helped alot, greetings from Czech. For illustration I made a photo how Iv positioned the sensor, I placed it cca 15cm below the basking spot, on the branch, as its saying 20cm bellow it makes 33 degrees and set the thermostat on 32, I have lots of bamboo sticks in, so I guess the snake can make kind of thermoregulation himself and choose where it suits him best, right? I was just warried not to fry him, but 50w shouldnt be so strong, at least I think so. Here is the example. I guess the green tip of the thermostat sensor is recognizable. Thanx again

My ATB has very rarely been on the ground. He'll climb and sleep perched or wedged somewhere. A CHE would be the best heat option with cover and place for the snake to feel warm and secured.

Thank You, I can see for myself now. My female spend most of the day sleeping on the bamboo sticks or in her hide and is active during the night, especially since I equiped the enclosure with exo terra night lamp or bulb. Happy Easter
