Rock on heat pad?

Hey!

So I am bringing home my columbian tomorrow and need some last minute help!

The temp on the hot side of my terrarium is currently reading 89, I have two rocks placed in the corner of the terrarium (there is also hides on both the hot side and cool side). The rocks are on top of the heating pad (as is the hide, dont worry. The heating pad is just long) and it's also under the basking lamp. It's a large tank so I needed both to lift the temps. Will the rocks get too hot? Should I not use the basking lamp? Thank you in advance hope that all made sense

ETA: The terrarium is COMPLETELY filled. So although it is a 40gallon, he shouldn't be stressed as there is no open areas.

Re: Rock on heat pad?

No the rocks won't get too hot although I'd use a ceramic heat built or rhp for a boa (well any snake actually - don't use heat pads at all except for quarantine tubs).

I agree heat panel is the best choice, second is ceramic heat emitter but you'd need a cage. They get very hot so risk of burns. I like heat panels because they are wider heat emitter and don't get hot enough to burn.
