Epicrates angulifer - Cuban boa

I was very close to picking up a gopher snake from a local rescue but my favourite store has had a couple of male Epicrates angulifer in for some time and they dropped the price recently to £50. An insane price for such an animal.

They are CB04 so cool grown and in pictures just look a dull brown but boy do they have that rainbow sheen to them in the person. Cubans are known as musk monsters but these two are utterly tame and handle fantastically.

Now to find a female!

Bizarrely as I was I the store looking at them I had a message asking if I knew anything about Cuban boas. Turns out he had just bought the other one.

Great find and I'm jealous all over again!! And yes, you can see the iridescence in the scales in the photo you supplied...it's evident on several different spots on the snakes

I've just spotted it! In the flesh it's really strong. They're great snakes and not often seen. Ones that don't musk on sight are rarer still . At today's exchange rates I think I paid around $70!

Re: Epicrates angulifer - Cuban boa

Picked the angulifer up today and by coincidence the other one was being picked up at the same time.

As the other people picking theirs up calm slow handling is the key otherwise they musk. They now have a 3 1/2 drive home covered in one of the most offensive smelling snake musks known .

Mine was as good as gold...

Pics to follow once he's had time to settle.

Re: Epicrates angulifer - Cuban boa

This guy is just ****ing awesome. Shed overnight so nice and shiny. Handles well for the species. Immensely strong and even without the musking a very smelly snake but utterly blown away by him.

Recommend if you come across one!

Great snake Danny, congrats

I have a stinky snake too... for some reason... and it's a normal kingsnake (getula spp.). For one or the other reason, he's REALLY smelly all the time without musking ever...

Settling in well. He'll get a big viv later this month and that'll be decked out properly...
