Musical enclosures

OK team, I'm kinda stuck. I need to order one or two enclosures and I'm not sure how to go about it or which sizes to go with. I'll explain my current setup and then I'd like to hear how you all would move things around. This might be confusing but here goes...

I have my 1.1 jungle carpets in a split AP T8 (4x2x1). The female is comfortable in her half but the male is getting a little cramped. Technically he's the only snake that really needs an upgrade right now. I'm not sure if I should move the both of them into a split 6x2 or give them individual 4x2s.

My young male olive and my female albino carpet are in another split AP T8. They're both fine but the olive is growing fast and may need an upgrade by years end. I know some keepers and breeders have said a 4x2 will work for him as an adult but I think a 6x2 is more realistic. The female albino will be fine in a 3x2 or 4x2 as an adult.

My coastal carpet is in a 40g breeder tank. He's just a little over 5 ft but the 40g is perfect for him right now. He'll end up in the 7-9 ft range as an adult. I think he'll be fine in a 4x2 as an adult but a 6x2 is a possibility.

My yearling Bredli is in a 60qt tub comfortably. He's growing slower than my other carpets and I don't think he'll need a larger enclosure for at least 6 months. Again a 4x2 or 6x2 will be fine for him as an adult.

I'd like to end up with only (2) 6 ft cages and the rest 4 footers but I'm flexible. WWYD?

I'd probably go 4x2 for the smaller bunch and 6x2 for the big 2. I'd do this because A I'd like to give more space especially to more active species that will use it and B having more consistency in 4' and 6' width makes stacking easier. If you have 3, 4 and 6 mix you'll have quite the game of 3D tetris on your hands. Usually there isn't a crazy difference between a 3' and 4' cage and just makes life easier. Extra space doesn't hurt either.

You could buy 1 or 2 4x2 now, play musical cages maybe putting the Olive in one of them as a grow out cage and move him again as he grows up. By then your female albino might be ready to move up.

But what if you like tetris?

whatever you decide, will you please share pics too? We are in the process of overhauling our entire collection setup over the next year, and would like to get some inspiration from more experienced keepers

You're right Blaze. I'll stick with all 4 and 6 ft cages. I was thinking about buying a 4x2x2 and moving the coastal into it. Move the female JCP into the 40g tank and give the male JCP the full T8. That buys me a bit of time. I also thought about buying a 6x2 and putting the 1.1 jungles in there and give the coastal the T8 the jungles are currently in. That'll hopefully be forever homes for that group. Then I can move the albino carpet, Bredli, and Olive between the 40g tank and the last T8 at least until the end of the year and then I'll add another enclosure.

My plan for final cages will be a 4x2x2 (carpet) 4x2x1 (BP) 4x2x1 (king) 4x2x16" (boa) and ?x?x? surprise

The taller cages will be at the bottom more eye level when sitting down for viewing for the more display/active snakes with the shorter less display snake cages stacked on top.

Do you have any cats or dogs in the house? If you do, is there any concern that the cats may try to tease the snakes, or do you have a separate snake room closed off from the rest?

I have a cat but she really isn't interested in them. She can enter the space where they are caged but are ignored. Even when I have one out she doesn't care, she surprised me once jumping on the couch when I didn't see her. She sniffed Mushu and sat down. First few times I held my first snake Mushu, she was staring past him at me wanting attention and dinner. Like there wasn't anything in my hands looking back at her. Slow moving things confuse and scare her so she usually runs away. Part of why I got a BP instead of a corn as my first snake was I worried that should it get loose a fast moving corn might get attention where my BP won't.

Your pets might not react the same though. When I had an aquarium on my dresser she would paw at the glass. The only time she was interested in the snake cages is when I fed live and she just wanted the rat and was whining it was on the wrong side of the glass. She is an indoor cat but has caught a few mice that have come inside. For a largely lazy cat most of the time she is still a good hunter it seems. Catch mice that traps don't catch.
