Background*suggestions?

I*have a*40 gallon glass aquarium for my*snake*that sit's in the corner of the room it's in. I'd like to*put some sort of*background on the two sides against the wall. Looked at the local pet store and they only have aquatic/noisy backgrounds for sale. I'm looking for something simple and which*would work with the lighting to maximize my ability to take pictures of the snake (of which I take a lot). Anybody got any suggestions either for what to use or*the color that*would make a good backdrop for picture taking? *The snake will be mostly black with some blue, if that*helps. Thanks.

Re: Background*suggestions?

Depends what kind of look you're going for, do you want a natural background or just a flat colour?

Re: Background*suggestions?

I was thinking a flat color.* The snake is the only thing I'm really interested in photographing,*so I'm thinking a flat color would make him stand out more. *But if a natural background would make for better pictures, I'm not necessarily opposed to it.

If you want easy you can use aquarium backgrounds, they are sold on a roll by length at any aquarium store. You can get black, blue or environments. Just simply have to tape it to the outside of the tank and you're good.

Re: Background*suggestions?

You can also get rolls of dark green grass mats or moss backgrounds that are used for model train setups. Look in Hobby Lobby or Michaels and they should have something like what you want or do a google search and you'll find it pretty quickly. I used the moss background on my tanks when I was using aquariums and it looked great. Just a thought...

Re: Background*suggestions?

Good suggestions. Thanks. Jim, so you felt the dark green provided a good enough contrast to still see the snake well?

Re: Background*suggestions?

Actually, I used the moss which was a very subdued multicolored brownish green. Yes, it looked very natural and showed off the snakes very well.
