Semi-aquatic Lizard
Just asking for any ideas for a semi-aquatic lizard. It has to stay in a 4 foot big for life and it needs to be under 250.

Re: Semi-aquatic Lizard
Chinese water dragons seem to fit the bill. I've never owned or worked with them, but I've heard good things about them.

Re: Semi-aquatic Lizard
CWD's need space and height though so would be a 4x2x4 viv as a minimum. Agree they're neat creatures though.

Re: Semi-aquatic Lizard
Wait, I misread the original post when I posted that. I thought I read that the lizard was to be no bigger than 4', rather than the enclosure. With that being said, maybe you should look to something smaller.

Re: Semi-aquatic Lizard
Crock skinks would be fun but thats about all I can think of, any water dragons would eventually require a 6Lx3Wx6T plus adequate water space. Just for the record the original cost of the animal should really not be a deciding factor considering feeding, housing, electrical, vet bills will far surpass most reptiles available to hobbyists (excluding high end morphs and rare species)

Re: Semi-aquatic Lizard
You could possibly keep a brown basilisk in a 4Lx2Wx4H enclosure.

Re: Semi-aquatic Lizard
@sirtalis. Apologies I realised I'd suggested to small an enclosure when I woke up this morning! They do like their space don't they?!

No worries man haha a water dragon could probably live in a slightly smaller enclosure but they're know to reach 30 in so I guess 5 feet would be a more reasonable minimum? I've never kept one so im not sure how active they are under optimal conditions, I know my peacock monitor would fully use a 10 foot enclosure but my friends peacock monitpr would be fully content in a 4 foot enclosure. But its probably safest to go bigger than the suggested minimum.
