My climbing sand boa???!!!

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. I bought my son a Kenyan sand boa a few months ago, and I loved him so much that I bought myself a 40" orange and yellow corn snake last week! I'm hooked. The sand boa is Henry and the corn is Daisy.
Question: Does anyone else have sand boas that like to climb? I have does tons of reading about sand boas and their care and I don't find info about climbing. Only burrowing. He does burrow and spends all day under his sand (I am switching him over to aspen), but at night he comes out and climbs on the little plastic plants in his cage, and on the wires for the temperature probes. He got out one and freaked us out, but we found him peeking his little head out from behind the bookcase! So I got a locking lid with a little door in the top and he can't excape anymore. But every night, except for the night or two after being fed (he's lazy on those nights!), he comes out and climbs on the trees, the probe wires, etc, and tries to shimmy his little body up the glass. He is able to stretch himself really far, holding onto the plants only by the tip of his tail!
If I put my hand in the cage, he actually crawls onto it like he wants to come out.
It's super cute, but I'm wondering if anyone else has climbing sand boas.
