Calling the Beauty Squad!
Know there are quite a few Beauty keepers on here. A semi local friend of mine is rehoming a Beauty and I agreed to take her. Will be picking her up on Sun.
I was just wondering if those more experienced have any tips, tricks or bits of good advice on them, as I haven't had the chance to look into them as much as I usually do before jumping into a new species. I think I've got the basics covered though.
Thanks!
And here is pretty girl Tam! She's supposed to have a very good temperament.

Beautiful critter Charis. It's really nice when they fall in your lap like that.

Re: Calling the Beauty Squad!
Congratulations on the new snake. I'm soon to be a first time beauty keeper as well. My hatchling blue beauty is arriving this morning. Wish you the best of luck!

Re: Calling the Beauty Squad!
Send her to me. That's the best advice I can give you But on the off chance you don't take me up on my overly generous offer, here's the basics. 82 warm side, room temp (mid 70's) cool side. Humidity 70+. Enclosure as big as you can offer, 4x2x2 minimum. Lots of structure to climb. The will be on the move a lot. Mine don't use hides, but you should offer until you determine if yours will. I feed med or lrg rats every 7-10 days. When you hold them they will often try to anchor their tail on a part of your body. Not allowing them to do so can cause them to flail and try to get away. Attitude is totally dependent on the individual, but I've personally not experienced any defensive behavior. If I missed anything hopefully someone else will chime in.
OH, and congrats!

LOL! Thanks!
Interesting, sounds like my Mandarins. When they aren't totally comfortable, usually when first being picked up, they also want to anchor their back half to an arm and will hold their upper body in a ready S, that will let them strike or dodge very fast, if anything they perceive as threatening comes at them. They also freak if they aren't able to get that good anchor. Once they've had a few minutes to asses things from their ready position, they relax and are ready to calmly explore.

Re: Calling the Beauty Squad!
Nice! I can't wait to add a blue beauty around here though I'm trying to be good right now and just get equipment.
I keep my Chinese beauty's around 80 or so on the hot side. I think they like 75-78 range more. I let the cold side get 70 or lower I don't really keep track of the cold side as much since they like it cooler anyway. I kept my one beauty at ambient temps for awhile of 76-78 and he did perfectly fine. Humidity is 60 at the lowest but I try to keep the closer to 70-80%.
