Empty enclosure syndrome found in many reptaholics

I really was trying to be good. I've got my (6) snakes in AP T8s but I still have two empty 40g tanks and an empty tub hanging around. I was just joking around with my girlfriend (feeling her out) and mentioned getting a new snake. My joke / logic was that I'm not taking up any more space, I'm just making better use of the space I currently have. She surprisingly didn't fuss or offer any resistance so I pounced and got serious real quick. I'll be taking delivery on a 2015 male Bredli Carpet Python in about two weeks. I have to order a few supplies and butter up the little lady a bit. I think she's actually pulling a fast one on me this time. She casually mentioned that she wants to go to NY for 3 days to visit her girlfriend this summer and guess who's buying the ticket? Oh well, I guess that's the cost of doing business sometimes . Here's a picture from the breeder. Of course I'll post more when he arrives. Big thanks and shout out again to Nick Mutton at Inland Reptile.

Nice. A relationship where win win solutions are found is great. She gets her trip, you get your snake, no one sacrifices too much.

Uh oh EL! The addiction having a place in your heart is showing through. I know the feeling well. Nice that girlfriend wants to begone while the guys get ready to hang out. Fantastic looking carpet. Nothing but the best, I heard that.

Ooooh....bredlies are soooo gorgeous! They get too big for me though lol. I'm sticking with my little IJs for now XD

I know that feeling all too well too. That's why I got my current male IJ....I had an extra tub lol! I will really have to battle that feeling while building my custom enclosures though. Every tine I build a new enclosure, it will empty a tank! XD

My plan is to eventually have all custome enclosures and to sell the tanks I have now. At least the ones I don't have filled with ine thing or another....lol I'm so bad....

Beautiful Bredli! You're going to love it! The reddish brown that those guys develop looks so slick.

Minkness...you may be surprised to know that some IJs can get pretty big too! I had a 100% pure Hamper line IJ male that was near 7 feet and almost as thick as a tennis ball. That's not the norm, though. I will post one pic of the big fella here, but I don't want to hijack this thread!

Re: Empty enclosure syndrome found in many reptaholics

Thanks all. I was torn about which carpet to get next. I started to get a female zebra or caramel jag to pair with my jungle or coastal. Since I decided I won't be breeding the critters I opted for more diversity and went with the Bredli. I've heard that they're really hardy animals with great temperaments.

Beautiful IJ Andy!

Nice, from what I've read about bredli's they're very hardy and easy to care for. Beautiful too, generally good dispositions, just grow a bit larger. Seems you're sliding ever further down that slippery slope... lol.

Thanks TnB. I've heard those same descriptions of Bredli. I was a little concerned about their adult size, and almost bought another jungle instead, but the breeder says a big part of that depends on how much the snake is fed. I like large, healthy, hearty critters but plan to keep the Bredli on the smaller side. And the slide down the slippery slope has come to a peaceful stop. I've finally reached my optimal snake keepers euphoria. I have all the critters I can and want to happily care for . 7 is one of my favorite numbers .

For sure! End of the road for me. I have a thing for numbers and my next option would be 10. I'll stop now.
