Well..not for lack of trying. My diamond cross male keeps nailing the girls, but so far, no ovulations

Anyway, I caught this yesterday on my iPhone. I've never seen spurring before..I thought it was pretty cool..the male is in blue now, but still eager to do his part

Too early for ovulation's. Shouldn't see that until Jan/Feb.

Actually, you should start to see follicle growth very shortly. So, if you see her swelling a little bit this month..... That's what it would be.

Question about this, knowing you're well versed in carpet python breeding, have you ever had a female ovulate or lay eggs outside of the normal months?

I know in ball pythons it happens all the time. I'm curious on other species and if they have a more defined "season".

Yes...I am curious about this as well...any other carpet breeders want to chime in too? What has been your personal experience with "standard deviation" so-to-speak?

Hey brother,

Carpets.....no. Always the same time for the most part. Now, I'm sure if you were to "cycle" them....then yes....you could see some activity outside of season but generally, they're all on the same schedule.

Green trees....I've had go in "off months" so, it's not impossible for them to go early (or late), just not the usual if your setup is dialed in with the natural seasons.

That's interesting.

I find with my ball pythons even though I will put all the adults through the same "cycle" that some go months later than others on a regular basis.

Yeah, some will do their own thing for sure. I have Carpets and BHPs that go a little early or a little later....but, still within the "season". (They maybe be 5 or 6 weeks apart).

I've actually gotten to the point where I try to "stagger" my clutches so I don't have so many eggs in the incubator at once.

So, one month I'll put some animals together, then more the next month, etc

I am not that close. I'm closer to 3 months apart on my extremes. These are usually only one or two females on either end though so similar experiences to you.
