Hello, I am new on here and need some information.
I have a female ball python that is not eating; she is not in shed. She has not eaten in almost 4 weeks, I introduce food every week, she won't eat.I do not know her age as I got her from a guy at work in December.I initially thought that the cage temp might be off but that is not the case, then I thought I may be handling her too much so I stopped.... she still won't eat.I know that she will be okay for a while but am a little concerned. Can anyone offer anything?

Re: jeepgrl1964

Welcome to the forum! I'm a new BP parent as well and was actually wanting to stay away from them for this very reason.

Honestly, it's something that MANY BP owners experience. Even well established, perfectly healthy BPs may go off their food for no reason. So long as she is healthy and you know her temps and humidity are fine, I'd say just wait her out and offer her food weekly as you have been.

I'm going through the same thing with my guy. Granted, he's recently added to my life, but had a history of being a fantastic eater, and is just so not having it with me lol.

I hate wasting a mouse every week, but I'm sure once I get him going again, he'll be good.

Good luck with your lady!

Re: jeepgrl1964

Welcome and best wishes jeep. A lot of snakes go off feed from time to time. It mostly happens during the colder months or breeding seasons. BP's are known for taking long food breaks. I agree with Mink, if your temps and humidity are dialed in and she's not losing much weight, I'd wait her out. When my snakes go off feed I usually offer food every 10 days instead of every 7 days until they're back on track. This reduces the number of wasted feeders, even though I always have 1 or 2 snakes that'll gladly dispose of any leftovers. Keep us posted on your progress.
