Pygmy Leaf Chams...??????....

Hi all, Veilds use to be "My thing" but i have gotten out of them and am really interested in the Pygmy Leaf Chameleons. They apparantly are terrestrial (Correct me if i'm wrong)
I am almost 100% absolutely, Positively certain that thees aren't availabe in Canada and certainly not CB. But just thought i'd pop in and see if anyone knows where theres a stash in Canada...? Or anyone who has worked with them to share some experiences they might have had with them.

Cheers......Ed

Hi Ed!

Well you aren't wrong! Brookesia minima or Pygmy Leaf Chams are terrestrial, inhabiting low branches and leaf litter and they do best in glass enclosures!

As for availability... that's where I'm not sure! I personally haven't seen any or heard of anyone breeding them in Canada. I could be wrong on this too!

I'm HOPING to get some Brookesia species next week! These guys will unfortunately be WC but I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

Cheers!

Trace

Hi Trace

I see you have quite the established collection of chams aready! Like i said earlier, I am also pretty sure there isn't anyone breedig them in Canada. I'm not worried about having to start off with a wc pair as that seems to be the only way to get them.
I do intend to breed them and get ehm into the Canadian herp trade. They are a really underrated species and deserve way more attention hen they get. Will the Brookesia you'll be aqquiring be your first WC's...?

Cheers......Ed

hey,

what type are you talking about. kahane is breeding brookesia and i believe he has more than 1 species of brookesia. as for rhampholeons, they are easy to get and my friend accually breeds them on a regular basis. brev's are awsome guys, i still wouldn't mind a group for myself.

Ok Ed.... now you have me confused! LOL

To answer your question though... any Brookesia I may get won't be my first WC chameleons. My Meller's, my Fischer's and possibly the Verrucosus are all WC. So far they are all doing great... just finished a course of deworming and ALL are eating like PIGS!

I'm not sure what species I'll be getting next week. I'm checking out a shipment of lizards from Madagascar and more than likely I'll get some kind of Brookesia species... but if there are any other weird woggley eyed critters there... I'm sure they'll come home with me too!

Help me! I'm addicted to Chameleons!

Cheers!

Trace

I saw that Global Exotics has it posted on it's site that they have some pygmy leafs for sale at $65 each. Not sure if that is any help but I noticed it as I was thinking of getting some in a few months for myself.
