Re: New Jayne pictures. O. p. laticincta.
He is a Broad Banded Ratsnake, Oreocryptophis porphyraceus laticinctus. We got him last year. This is what he looked like when he arrived.

Almost looks like a cross between a bamboo and a milk lol.
Beautiful though, for sure!

I really like the look of these snakes. How large do they grow?

Re: New Jayne pictures. O. p. laticincta.
They pretty much get no longer than 40 inches, males tend to be a little smaller than females. They are cousins to the Thai Bamboo ratsnakes, O. p. coxi that we also keep. These two we have seem to be growing slightly slower than the coxi and are by far the calmest Oreocryptophis we have, though since we've only dealt with two of them and only one O. p. pulchra (who is super flighty but doesn't enjoying biting like most coxi,) hard to say if that's just individual or more common to the laticincta generally.

Re: New Jayne pictures. O. p. laticincta.
He's a real beauty for sure. Is there a little less difference in the orange/red shading since he's grown or is that from different lighting between the pics?

Re: New Jayne pictures. O. p. laticincta.
Yeah, the orange will fade almost completely and the whole body will turn deep, deep red with thin black bands. He's probably about half way through changing.
