Pink/Red belly on Purple Albino Retic

Hey guys, new to the forum here.. anyways a few weeks ago I purchased my first retic and instantly fell in love with her. She has a good temperament, eats, drinks, handles very well and seems to be very predictable (so far). Although recently I noticed that right around her tail/belly her skin appears to be pink/red and possibly slightly irritated. She has yet to shed since shes been with me and yet to go to the bathroom (#2). Her only heat source is a zoomed under tank heat pad which is not regulated although it is checked daily and has never been over 90 degrees. I have read that this could be due to her about to shed but as i mentioned it is only on the rear part of her body. I will upload pictures ASAP.

Thanks, Alex.

Most likely in shed but you need to get a t-stat asap. What substrate are you using?

I will be investing in a herpstat 4 here in just a couple of days, I am currently using newspaper for bedding.

Ive tried to upload pics several times yet keep being denied due to being a new user or the post containing too many [img] codes although i'm only trying to upload two, and i've tried posting a direct link as well.

After 5 posts you can post pics. For now you can upload to imgur and then post the link.

Re: Pink/Red belly on Purple Albino Retic

My purple tiger just shed and is dark red from the tip of her tail to a half a foot in. This is the second time it has happened. So after I checked everything out I concluded it was a hot spot on her heating pad. So I'm adjusting the thermostat sensor position and placing a thicker buffer between the pad and her cage. I've noticed the store bought heatpads have a bad tendency for this. My male purple would not even go near it until I replaced with a cheaper cooler one. I have only seen this from my burm and tiger and they are the ones that just stay on the heatpad all the time. But troubleshooting all possibilities will help you find the problem.
