reached a new level - meant to be

Hey all

I feel I've reached a new level of trust with my Mushu. Today while I was holding him I was able touch his head top and bottom, very gently of course. But he didn't get scared, recoil or flinch when I did it; he carried on as he wanted. I was able to gently run my fingers down his body while he moved around. I had the feeling he was the right snake when I first saw him. When I was looking at different morphs in the store their juvies were in a rack system. Every other BP small to full grown remained coiled up some got more scared when we looked but this one stretched out looking right at me flicking his tongue and had to be scared by a hand to pull his head back into the tray when I closed it. Each time I looked at him same thing, he was bold and curious. When I held him in a busy store he didn't coil up and chose to roam around me instead. He has an excellent temperament and is an eager feeder. He is an excellent first reptile, none of the feeding issues BPs are famous for and worse for newbies. While I was getting his conditions his temperament and feeding was still very good. The only thing that has changed since he was moved into his new home was he moves around and explores more at night then he used to. He moves back and forth from hot to cold hide pretty evenly.

Aweee glad to hear you and your BP have developed such strong trust! I really saw that with my ball when I had to take her to the vet today; I have a lot of people hold her and check her out and even with the vet shoving something in her mouth she remained pretty calm and didn't try and tag the vet once. It's such a rewarding feeling when you can really feel the relationship building with your snake.

I brought him home Dec 14 and only hold him once or twice a week but I feel this is good progress in that time. Funny is I'm going to put a childrens python in his old 24x24x12 pvc cage which I've head act like crazy killers even though they aren't.
