What kind prices can you guys find for diamonds. theres a canadian breeder who wants between 1500-1800 for a juvinile pair and this seems outrageous to me. Any thoughts?

Why does it seem outrageous to you? I would say that falls in the price range of diamonds in the US. Some can be more expensive. Lineage and "quality" will often demand higher prices. Breeders will also usually demand higher prices than retail.

Yeah $1500 a pair is about right. One of my buddies had some hatchlings a couple months ago for $850 a piece.

Ok good to know. It will be a while until I'll be adding them to the collection. Need to slow down anyways theres been a few added already recently.

i think the exchange rate is around 1.5 Canadian dollars to the pound at the minute..

back in 2008 i paid £750 for my female,from at the time one of only 2 clutches of pure Diamonds produced here in the UK (same guy produced both clutches a few years apart)

in 2011 i paid £500 for 2 males from Germany

in 2014 i paid £225 from my Carpet mentor in London,but he was charging everyone else £250 per Diamond

imo and the proofs there,he single handedly crashed the Bredl market,the following year he went onto crash the pure Diamond market and this coming season he will crash the Albino Carpet market

he sells at roughly quarter of the price of the large Carpet breeders,and he has very high quality breeder Morelia,which he paid a not so small fourtune for back in the day

he caused quite a stir amongst all the large breeders all the way to Europe

over here if there's a lot of people producing pure Diamonds the price will drop as they have decent size clutches,last year there were 2 clutches produced here in the UK

but a large Diamond producer in Europe sold off all his adult breeders,Olli used to produce 3 or 4 clutches per season,maybe more

as far as i know,i'm the only person trying for pure Diamonds this year here in the UK,as my mentor and another friend are giving their females a year off rest

have you got pictures of the Diamonds your thinking of buying mate ?

parents pictures as well if possible ?

P.S, Gonesnakee on here (Mark) produced a good few clutches of Diamonds over your way mate

not buying one in the forseeable future was just looking at what was available here in canada because I really do like the look of the diamonds. This year I'm hoping to produce 2 clutches 1 pure bredli and a bredli jungle cross. Depending on how that goes will determine how much more im willing to invest in diamonds. may just wait a few years and see if the prices come down a bit. Both females I'm pairing this year are proven by previous owners so fingers crossed.

That's because there aren't that many compared to other morelia, especially with good lineage information. It's like anything that's rarer(ie. inland carpet pythons). The price will be high until more people start producing them.

until 2013 Diamond breeders in the UK and Europe would not sell a lone female,if you wanted a female you had to buy at least 1 male,sometimes 2 males with the female

Diamonds are still pretty rare,although not as rare as they were from 2012 and before

Josh from the USA over on MP has some great lineage info

as does Gary Valle (i think thats the way to spell his surname)

in Canada however,ive only ever heard of Mark Gonesnakee on here producing pure Diamonds

imo Diamond Pythons are totally different to work with and their husbandry is unique compared to all other Carpet Pythons

i can sit and watch my Diamonds for hours...
