Question What is wrong with this snake????

Just came across this Youtube video and can't figure out what's wrong with this snake. It's really bizarre.

Poor thing, not sure if it's having a seizure or what.

Not sure. I saw this a while ago but it was this video to be exact.

It looks like a seizure to me; it's some kind of neurological trauma at least. My guess would be parasites that got into the brain, or a virus like paramyxovirus. Poor thing- it was on its way out.

Re: What is wrong with this snake????

It sure looks like some sort of brain damage. It's possible that someone smacked it on the head with a stick to kill it any only severely injured it.

could also be some pesticides. in that situation with the possibility of that being genetic culling may be the most humane thing.

It would be so funny to see you flop around on the ground after I picked you up, and slammed you down on your head on the pavement... hahahahaha!

Re: What is wrong with this snake????

Georgia,

I'm not sure if you're referring to my comment about it getting smacked on the head, but if you are, you're way off base. I don't kill snakes. In fact, I captured and relocated two Copperheads from my back yard this summer even after one of them had bitten my dog on the face. The snake in the video was obviously suffering from neurological damage. My thoughts were that is was somewhat unlikely for a snake to have a seizure in the middle of the road and someone happen to be there to capture it on video. Probably more likely that someone tried to kill it and they video taped the snake afterwards. Perhaps jumping to conclusions is not the best way to respond to a posting. Just a thought...

No, I'm commenting about the title saying it was funny.

Re: What is wrong with this snake????

I've noticed its difficult for snakes to get across roads however this has to be a parasite, heat trauma, dehydration, ect not normal obviously. the person that stood there and filmed it is a terrible person! I would've put the poor thing out of its misery...

Re: What is wrong with this snake????

Yeah, I would have killed the poor thing too. I'd feel awful doing it, but you can't just leave an animal suffering like that.

I had to kill a snake once. The back half of its body was completely mashed into the pavement, and its little head was waving back and forth slowly in a daze. It was obviously suffering so I gave it a rock to the head. Then I felt sad for a while afterwards.
