Question about feeder size

So I have been feeding my little rosy two pinkies every 7 days for the last couple months. She takes both of these very eagerly. My bag of pinkies is starting to run low so I have been debating about the next size mice to buy, be it fuzzys or hoppers. I would rather feed 1 mouse than two but worry that hoppers might be too big. Shes about 18-20in long and im not sure about the weight. Any thoughts??

Re: Question about feeder size

From the looks of it, I would go with hoppers. Looks like she could take them easily

Completely agree with CK SandBoas on that one, looks like she could easily take hoppers.

Or 3 at time until you get hoppers.

Re: Question about feeder size

Haha we"ll see about that. I gotta figure out exactly how many pinks I have left and then the best bet is I run myself out right when I get some hoppers

Re: Question about feeder size

So she didnt eat for almost 2 weeks while she was shedding. I offered a pinkie at her normal feeding day and all I got was defensive strikes. I found her under one of her hides today looking nice and shiny with a freshly shed skin and a big poop. I offered her 3 pinkies and she gobbled them right up!! Im getting excited that shes moving up in feeder size soon!

Re: Question about feeder size

yeah its time to step that bad boy up, i usually do a rule of 125% of the biggest part of the body that way there is a nice bulge. From that last pic i would try weenling rats, i think it would handle that just fine.

Re: Question about feeder size

Would weanling rats be healthier than hopper mice? I thought it took awhile for health benefits in rats to show up. And weanlings seem too big almost, maybe rat pups or hoppers? I know snakes can take very large prey compared to their body size but im scared about pushing it too far...haha my name says it all

Re: Question about feeder size

For a snake that size I'd go with a rat fuzzy or rat pup at the most. I think the weanlings might be a little too big right now.

Re: Question about feeder size

Yeah im gonna look at the sizes of hopper vs rat fuzzy vs rat pup when i pick up my next bag because from what ive been reading it seems that there can be alot of variation in sizes of rat pups by breeder. I also only have the one snake so id like to buy something at her upper limit so she can grow into them. Any bag i buy will last awhiiiile
