Retic Pushing problem?!

hello retic keepers , ive owned and still own lots of retics but my newest girl is 8 months now and just started pushing constantly all night long, ive never had any of mine do this but ive heard of it , enviroment is textbook as with all my retics , any ways to get her to stop let me know thanks

My pure sd male pushed a lot at first. Nothing I could really do, just keep an eye on it, and waited and he stopped. It's a very common thing in retics. Keep an eye on her and it should be fine.

Thanks , Ive seen terrible injuries to their mouth because of pushing, just didnt want that to happen to her, i honestly thought wrongly of people who had this problem in the past because i thought the problem was from husbandry issues, i cleary see that its not now..thanks again i will definitely keep an eye out for damage to her mouth

From everyone I've discussed with: cage size (too small/too big), hungry, wants to breed, or, just because. So, basically what I have been abel to gather form that is, you try to correct anything you can think of, one step at a time and def keep an eye on her for swelling/potential infection. Hopefully this will pass.

Of the three I have, two push like crazy when they "think" it's feeding time. I typically go every 10-12 days. Sometimes they jump the gun on about day 8 and think it's time to eat.

Her inclosure is perfect as far as temps, humidty, and such. it may be to big for her liking ,it is a 4ft vision and she is about 4 ft , however she has been in this since she was little, nothing has changed so idk . She started pushing about 2 weeks ago btw

maybe she just wants to come out and play haha

but mine will do that every so often too. i usually just open the door so she can see and smell better and she will usually just sit with her head half out of the cage watching me as i work or w.e. im doing.

I only own one retic and I've only had her for a short period. But I've seen this brought up a few times on one of the biggest retic pages on Facebook. Some people say that upping the feeding seems to help, like I say mate I've never had this problem just saw this advice hope u get it sorted

She eats every 5 days 20% of her weight...maybe she get her out more let her rome around lol

I've never had pushers, so this is not my experience..! Thought i'd share anyway.

A friend of mine had a snake who was in a big enclosure but kept busting her nose, he sprayed some kitchen (olive?) oil on the particular spot she liked to push. He kept her on unprinted newpaper, on any bedding it would get really messy. It saved her nose.. It looked like she gave up trying because she couldn't get grip on the surface anymore, and the greasy skin did not rip or damage either.

It's not a particularly clean method, and the snake needs a bath before it can shed properly (because they can't get grip to get the skin off) But for him it worked, she stopped pushing after that, (she had been doing it for years)

Again, i never did this so i can only tell you what he told me.

I sure will ..im going to try find some other oil to use maybe peanut oil..im afraid olive oil is to acidic..idk just a thought lol

I asked him what oil it was, it was sunflower oil
