This is an adult! They do get a little larger, but 10" specimen would be considered large adult.

Cute little bugger. I didn't know that they were rear fanged and venomous until I looked them up. Similar to hognose snakes in the their venom is mainly used to start the digestive process and most people have little or no reaction from it. Are you planning to keep it or release it back into the wild?

I keep them long enough to photograph them. These little buggers favorite food is centipedes. Many of the adults that are found have some pretty good scars. I believe that is the nature of the venom, to subdue prey. It is harmless to people. Really nothing I can think of I would want to keep out of the wild. Not against it, just don't have time to get into the field very often. I would rather buy captive bred if they are available. Maybe some scarlet kings. This picture is about a year old. This is just something not everyone gets to see.
