Help identifying a snake...
Does anyone know what type snake this is? I found it in my house so I'm a bit concerned. Should I worry about more or would they have all scattered by now?
I live in East Alabama.

Actually, I'm thinking red-bellied snake...but either way, perfectly harmless.
The snake isn't in front of me to key out.

Excellent point.
The pattern does look very much like a Storeria occipitomaculata, the immediate cousin of the Storeria dekayi.
If the belly is bright red/orange that seals it, if the belly is creme colour, then it is a dekayi.

Thank you everyone!
It's been a while since a snake stopped by and chilled out in my living room. lol Last time it was a garden snake but I have had a rattlesnake get in one year and bite my dog. I know what those and a few others look like but this one I had never seen before.
I would post another picture but I've already released him. His belly was a creme colour.
