Odd Squeak?

this may sound like an odd question. My columbian rainbow makes an odd squeak every now and then. I have had her 3 days and have heard it maybe 4 times. She doesn't seem bothered, no wheezing, etc...just an occasional squeak...almost sounds like squeaky gas? or kinda like the squeak of something dragged across glass (but she is lying still usually when it happens)..anyone have any ideas? I read about possible RI's but don't see any other symptoms and like i said it has only happened a couple times...also read somewhere it could be a flap of skin from her last shed stuck in her nostril that may occasionally drop down? i did notice her eyes look like she has some scales stuck to them...

kinda surprised i got no input on this...but, anyway, her condition has progressed...i am convinced it is an RI...made a call to the vet even before i posted this question, but they didn't call me back until 2 days later and i was at work until after they closed...right now i am pushing the humidity and heat and will call after work on monday and see if they can get her in right away..

i am new so i posted it on the general discussion board..i have seen many a question posted there, so i asked. where should i have posted it? for future reference? there were quite a few views on the post but no answers

i'm learning, but still need guidance as to protocol, i guess... lol

i would post something to ask people how they you can help to make sure the RI doesn't progress.. crank the heat for sure though.

i am trying, put a different bulb in her lamp, and put towels under every doorway to prevent any possible drafts...i work the next 2 days, maybe i can convince the hubby to go buy a UTH for her for me tomorrow while i am at work to bump her heat a bit more...she was kept in a pet store for almost a year with no humidity and a single low wattage heat bulb...she is in alot better conditions now, but still battling temps and humidity for her...

cover her cage as much as you can to keep in humidity.. you want the cage humid not wet if its wet she will get worse.. try to put a damp towel over her cage it will help with humidity as well.

i have damp towels put on her cage, has raised her humidity quite a bit...she seems to be resting much more comfortably...i am terribly worried about her (i am a big worrywart)...hopefully she will be ok until i can get her to the vet...thanks for the help, i did post on the other forum like you suggested, like i said, i am new and hadn't seen that one as of yet...i have learned soooo much in the short time i have been on this forum, you guys are awesome!!

ive had Carpets whistle/squeak due to old shed stuck up a nostril,i put the snake in the bath with warm water,then submerege the head...

i take turns in covering each nostril with my finger tip,then wait on the uncovered nostril expelling air bubbles,then i repeat the proccess with the opposite nostril,this usually removes and old shed from the nostrils

originally i thought it may be part of a shed in her nostril since she wasn't kept in very good conditions where i got her from, but it progressed to the point she was opening her mouth to breathe every few minutes...i cranked her humidity and heat and she seems 80% better...calling the vet tomorrow after work to see if they can get her in tomorrow afternoon or tuesday...i thought about putting her in a bath, but unfortunately we are remodeling our master bathroom and are still waiting for the new tub we ordered to come in...our other bathroom only has a shower

with her opening her mouth to breath,it sounds more like a respiratory issues than it does stuck shed mate

CRB's require very high humidity, heat lamps do not allow the humidity required to keep them healthy. switch to UTH with a thermostat, and make sure the enclosure is sealed well enough to keep the humidity up, but with a little ventilation to prevent stagnant air and molds - bioactive substrates are the best way to maintain high humidity enviroments imo.

Great news everybody...first off, the exotic vet i was originally going to go to was 1.5 hr drive...roads were closed due to ice...she called her brother who is our local vet (5 min from my house) and he agreed to see her...he is not an expert but did learn about reptiles in vet school...her RI is all upper, nothing in her lungs...she already had greatly improved just from the changes and home treatments i tried...her dehydration is still apparent, but much better after letting her swim in my sink...oral antibiotic for 7 days and she should be good as new!! btw, she was an absolute hit at the office...even the women who were afraid of snakes just HAD to come see her...even "petted" her..lol...nice sunbeam coming thru the window gave everyone a wonderful show of her rainbow coloring also!!

I think that technique is referred to as waterboarding here in the states.
