Feel bad, just slammed the door on my snake's head

Not a door, but I was cleaning the tubs and my cay caulker's sneaked out real quick before I closed her tub. Ended up jamming her head inbetween. Anyone ever do this by accident? Worried that I hurt her.

My Jungle x Jag has gotten the lid dropped on him at least 6 times. I'll crack the lid when feeding and some times he shoot out so fast towards my face that my cat like reflex kick in before i know it and i jumped back dropping the lid on him. It's even happen once when not feeding.

Re: Feel bad, just slammed the door on my snake's head

I got bit on the face once when I kept my boa, Cloud in a tub. I was getting him out (he's about 4ft at this time, so it took both hands to get him out) and I had the lid in my hand to move it further out of the way, and it slipped out of my hand and onto his back....He went straight for my face. He didn't do any damage, just a little red pinprick that didn't even bleed. Usually I don't drop things on my snakes, though. lol

Re: Feel bad, just slammed the door on my snake's head

I've done this. It's one of the problems with top opening systems, especially ones that don't prop open by themselves and you have to hold it with one hand while doing something in the cage with the other. Add a few lights to the lid and it can get pretty heavy. Hope your critter's ok.

I've never done that but a few months ago, my dog stepped on my ball python's face . I felt awful but, uh, she didn't actually seem to care. Haha.

(small dog, btw)

There is no reason for a reptile and any other animal to ever be close enough together for that to happen

Good thing the dog was small, imagine a heavy paw stepping down on a little snake

Did he suffer any permanent injuries? I know snakes are resilient creatures but they seem so prone to physical injuries compared to other animals.

The dog wasn't supposed to be there, she ran in, jumped on the couch, stepped on the snake. I wasn't worried about any damage to the snake (again, small dog)...was more worried the snake would be freaked out.
