"Quick & Dirty" rack system

Heys guys, I've been looking into building a rack system for my ball and other to-be-gottens ( such as a Dumeril from Gotsa

) and was wondering if this would work (as the name implies) as a simple cheap rack?

Unfortunately, I'd say no. They have gaps for your snakes to 1. Escape and/or 2. Hurt themselves. So I personally wouldn't use that. You should just save up a few hundred and head over to AnimalPlastics.com I know it's expensive but I promise you it's worth it

You can buy the sterilite tubs and make the rack out of 1X2 wood. It's cheap and easy and works really well. You can then also heat the rack with flex watt heat. You can build the rack to work with or without the lids.

To OP,
I wouldn't recommend what you linked to... If you can't afford a rack system from AP (Animal Plastics) then I would go for a build. You can make one fairly easy and for cheap money (price comparable to the plastic tubs set you posted). Figure out what tubs you would want to use and then build from there based on the size of the tubs.. Unless you are avoiding a build because of person limits (i.e. handiness skills)

Usually racks are only used for breeding or large collections... I prefer to have enclosures that I can view

Well, I'm probably going to end up building my own... I've got a brother who is pretty handy and I can rope him into building something

I think a 4 tub rack would work (Wide so i can keep 2 small tubs per shelf or 1 large tub) and then keep the shelves I don't use for snakes as storage for bedding and other such things... I guess I'll look on Lowes.com (I've got a friend who works there and maybe I can get a discount) and start pricing this all out

AP has great prices. It's worth the extra $ for a professional rack.
If you ever get an AP rack you'll get it. Professional cages and racks are just way better. And honestly, it'll cost only like.. $100 more to buy one from AP compared to buying the materials and making one. It's $230 for a 6 shelf, 12 tub rack. It'd cost about $150+ to make a decent rack. Plus the people at big companies are way more qualified so that cuts down the chance of human error. I have spent like $140 in materials and messed up the rack i was trying to make. It really sucked... Just my opinion.

If you ever get an AP rack you'll get it. Professional cages and racks are just way better. yea, with professional grade you get no error, i guess alot of it depends on where you live, my materials were around $80 for a 7 slot rack for 41qts. made out of melamine and looked really nice, ive built like 4 of them all together (sold them all) but yea, guess it depends on where you live on the cost of materials... i even make my own cages, for 1/2 the price of professional cages... guess its up to personal preference

Either way works. Its whatever works better for the individual

I just built an 8 high 41 qt rack, to replace one I had made out of the HD plastic shelves years ago that was falling apart. Cost me $85 including heat tape, solder, foil tape, and 3 six foot extension cords for the wiring. Thats like $400-500 dollars less then a pro rack the same size cost. Im a very handy person so it was very simple for me, but if you're not handy yourself bribe a friend that's good at these things with a 12 pack of his favorite beer, and burgers/steak on the grill.

yea, chances are, someone in the family knows how to use a drill, saw, measuring tape, ect... just youtube some builds, or heck, PM me, ill throw you a little play by play action for general info.
