Confusion over boa size

I'm looking for a boa that stays small, but not something like a rubber or rosy. Hog island boa sounds like what I am looking for at 3-5 ft., but some people have reported hog island boas at 7+ feet. Is this common or is it because they received impure stock? Are there any localities that will definitely stay under 6 ft.?

Re: Confusion over boa size

There are many. I have a pair of caulker cayes.

Caulker cayes, crawl cayes, ambergris caye, pearl island boas, tarahumara desert boas, sonoran desert boas, nicaraguans, hondurans, costa ricans...etc.

Usually boas whose origins are in central america and the islands surrounding it will grow to be 3-5 ft.

Once you look start looking at boas from south america you get to the bigger subspecies.

Re: Confusion over boa size

Colombian Rainbows stay under 5. Brazilian rainbows stay under 7 and they are both on the slender side.

Re: Confusion over boa size

I have a hybrid and I was told he would stay under 7', I'm sure if you go to an expo, the breeder would tell you.

I'd assume size depend on the specific parents- please correct me!

Re: Confusion over boa size

It may not always be the case, but males tend to stay smaller in length and girth than females.
