Update on quite an old thread!

Hey everyone I apologize for my absence, but I wanted to share a very special update with you all. The last time I was here, I started this thread asking about suggestions for a first reptilian pet.

http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/gener...ggestions.html

Thanks to the guidance and advice of the fine folks here, I finally got a snake!

His name is Garrus, after one of my favorite characters from the Mass Effect series. He is a Banded California Kingsnake.

I've had him just over a year now, and he is just shy of 2 feet (23 inches by his latest shed skin)

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped me in the past, I promise your knowledge has been put to excellent use

Nice, man! He's a real beauty! One thing, though; measuring sheds is very inaccurate. You can use this website to measure snakes

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite snake on The Citadel.

Congrats, btw.

That's awesome Azzarth. Great choice with your kingsnake. I have a Cali Banded too. Keep us posted on your progress. Best wishes.

Re: Update on quite an old thread!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone And I'll for sure have to check out that snake measuring tool.

I've been really fortunate with Garrus; he has never refused a meal, and has only nipped me once. I occasionally try to handle him when other people are over as well, just to build up his comfort around humans.

I've found it really helpful to think about my actions around him through his eyes, so to speak. I can't really tell if he recognizes me, or if he's just become comfortable with a large, warm thing picking him up and bringing him food :P
